Where you go, and how
Garvi e-payment; Sub-Registrar office
Mode: Both
This office handles 10 of the 35 steps in the register. What else it does, and what it charges.
What to have with you
Not stated The government source for this step does not publish a list of documents. That absence is recorded in the register rather than filled in from an unofficial checklist, so treat any list you are handed elsewhere as somebody's practice rather than as a rule. The document lists that do exist are collected on one page.

What it costs
Quoted from the government source, in its own words:
Article 20(a) Conveyance: 1% of the consideration amount. Same 1% applies to Article 17 Certificate of Sale, Article 20(b) conveyance related to Co-operative Societies Act, Article 20(c) conveyance related to NTC/Board, Article 20(d) conveyance on amalgamation/reconstruction, Article 45(f) power of attorney for sale for consideration, Article 49(b) release in any other case, Article 52 settlement, and Article 57 transfer of lease. Article 26 Deed of Exchange, Article 28 Gift and Article 43 Partition Deed: 1% of market value. Article 20(aa) Conveyance of movable property: 1% of consideration, maximum Rs. 10,000. Article 30 Lease, all time slabs: 1% of the average lease amount. Fixed Rs. 100 registration fee applies to a range of articles including Article 5(ga) Development Agreement, Article 45 Powers of Attorney, Article 16 Cancellation, and a Will.
No part of this figure has been rounded, converted or updated by us. If the department has revised it since 4 August 2026, the correction address is in the footer. Every published fee in the register sits on one page.
How long it takes
No timing stated. A department that does not publish a service standard cannot be held to one, which is worth knowing before you plan around a date.
No timeline is stated for this step in any source examined for this register. Where a statute prescribes a period it is recorded; where it does not, the value is left empty rather than filled with a turnaround time from an unofficial source.
What to watch out for
The register keeps a note against this step. It is the part most people find out too late, so it is printed in full rather than summarised.
No maximum cap is stated for the 1% on Article 20(a) immovable-property conveyance in the official table, unlike Article 20(aa) movable property which is capped at Rs. 10,000.
