Where you go, and how
Offline: the Sub-Registrar office where the document was registered. Online: Garvi 'Online certified document copy (IORA)'.
Mode: Both
This office handles 10 of the 35 steps in the register. What else it does, and what it charges.
What to have with you
The source names 4 things the office asks for. Take them all in one go and the visit is usually one visit.
- Name of the executant
- Village in which the property is situated
- Description of the property
- Year(s) of registration
Quoted from the prerequisite list in the register. Where the source names a detail rather than a document, such as a survey number, it is listed as the source words it.
The form you fill in
Form No. 3 - 'શોધ લેવાની અથવા નકલ માટેની અરજી'
What it costs
Quoted from the government source, in its own words:
Court fee ticket of Rs. 3/- affixed on Form No. 3, PLUS a per-page copy fee that varies with page size: 18.5 cm x 11.4 cm = Rs. 10/- per page; 25.4 cm x 15.2 cm = Rs. 15/- per page; 30.5 cm x 19.0 cm = Rs. 20/- per page; 34.3 cm x 21.6 cm = Rs. 20/- per page. PLUS a court fee ticket (stamp duty) of Rs. 300/- per copy. Worked example given in the source: a 20-page document at 25.4 x 15.2 cm = 20 x 15 = Rs. 300 copy fee.
No part of this figure has been rounded, converted or updated by us. If the department has revised it since 4 August 2026, the correction address is in the footer. Every published fee in the register sits on one page.
How long it takes
No timing stated. A department that does not publish a service standard cannot be held to one, which is worth knowing before you plan around a date.
Registration department SLA / turnaround times for issuing a certified copy, Index-2, EC or a completed registration are NOT PUBLISHED in any source examined. All stated_timeline values for those steps are null; only the statutory presentation window (four months) and the statutory deemed-approval periods are recorded.
What to watch out for
The register keeps a note against this step. It is the part most people find out too late, so it is printed in full rather than summarised.
Copies of Book No. 3 (wills, adoption deeds) go only to the executant, his agent, or after his death to any applicant. Copies of Book No. 4 go to the executant or a person claiming under it or their agent. A CD or video recording of the registration itself is obtainable from the registering sub-registrar office under an RTI application on payment of Rs. 50/- (same source, section XVI).
